What are the dreams that the Teacher dreams?

What do all her lessons mean?

What within her life can be seen?

In her progeny, perhaps a gene? A theme?

What about her six, will give a fix, on the Teacher?

When you see the Coach, prepare his team, run the drills,

improve the skills and bring the thrills, you see the Teacher; and

When you see the Colonel, train his troops, lead his men,

through “thick and thin,” you see the Teacher; and

When you see the Counsellor, turn a phrase, explore a place

for grace in space, you see the Teacher; and

When you see the Entrepreneur, create an idea, define his space

within the marketplace, you see the Teacher; and

When you see the Court Attorney, advise the judge, prepare the ruling,

embrace the hand of the Chief Justice of the Land, you see the Teacher; and

When you see the Executive, receive her degree from her mother’s hand;

and with an M.B.A., her midas kiss, makes two million princes of frogs,

from mere catalogues, you see the Teacher; and

When from the Mount, a Fordham tree does grow,

small wonder the many acorns, in the valley below; and

When you see the Grandchildren, pursue their own degrees,

to help to teach those in need, you see the Teacher.

The young and beautiful Teacher, for whom the chatty kids would twitch,

because her mirrored flag made her seem bewitched.

The Teacher, The Teacher, Always the Teacher.

Honor the Teacher, Celebrate the Teacher.

For within her name remains her acclaim:

Antoinette, Miss Cappelli, Mrs. Sarro, Ma, Mom, Mommy, MiL,

Aunt Toni, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Toni, Babe . . .

No other name, as yet, shall exceed this dearest Antoinette.

Strong and gentle, spoken and unspoken.

No fairer one does alight, on this Mother’s Day Night.

All here are gathered in your name,

Antoinette, Genuine and True,

Forever, Our Teacher, We Love You.

 Diana, Princess of Wales,

Greater than the fairy tales.

“Lady Fair,” of golden hair,

With bedazzling blue pools,

Grander than the Crown Jewels.

“Lady Regal,” uncommon commoner,

Before her, all were equal.

“Princess of Love,” angelic dove.

Gracious in manner, courageous in spirit.

Soft spoken, shy, her humor wry.

“Princess Charming,” the people’s darling.

Lady in fashion, adorned by kindness and compassion.

Royal by deed to all those in need.

“Princess Daring,” enough to be caring,

To change some minds about the mines,

To lend her aid to those with AIDS.

To touch those untouched,

To love those unloved.

A world entranced by Chance,

Her life but a glance of the “Lady of Elegance,”

Sweet romance and warm radiance.

Let multitudes gather from all worldly parts

To honor the “People’s Princess” and ”Queen of Hearts”

And remember the manner of their “Dear Diana.”

None shall enter the realm of her acclaim,

Each shall humbly speak her name

And yield unto her gentle reign,

Loving, dignified and humane.

And in a voice of unanimity,

“You shared your soul and destiny.

You loved all and all loved you.

Our hearts are open and we bid adieu.”

No way to say, “Goodbye,” to Princess Di.

Rose of Sharon, Rose of Sharon,

Golden gables gracing the morn.

Stones streaming across the rises,

Tiering unto the winding woods.

Rhododendron rings wrapping

Rows of emerald green.

Boulders bursting terrene tethers,

Dawn drenched, dripping dew.

Timeless titans towering,

From their majestic mounts.

Long-legged, colossal talls,

Above flowered walks and walls.

Cheshire cats in chase,

On guard, in gardens graced

With fragrant frills,

Upon the face of humble hills.

Chirping cherubs, chattering

In cacophonous chorus,

Floating flutists, feathering

With their ancient muse.

Wood within, with windows bayed,

Galleries adorned with familiar faces.

Memories mauve with Venetian traces,

Dreamcatchers in children’s special places.

Corners contemplative with gentle rockers,

Wickered wonders and sculpted lovers.

Angels alighting above celestial stairs,

Descending down to easel chairs.

Heavenly hearts woven in wondercloth,

Warmth breathing from the underhearth.

Destiny drawn, the Earth reborn,

Each morn at Rose of Sharon.

A little more paunch.

A little more gray.

on the appointed day

from places near

and far away

to humbly say

in each we are

for each we’ll pray

until the final day.

Somehow one

remains our sum

until all are done

always knowing

from whence we come.
